Mythology of Pisces

From the Mythology of Pisces we learn about the mermaid story and the eternal dilemma Pisces has to deal with.

There are many versions of the classical mermaid myth, but to understand the Pisces personality we will be looking at just the basic outline of this story to guide us to the true message behind it.

Read a short outline of the myth of Pisces below:

Mythology of Pisces

When following the general theme of this kind of myth there is always an enchanting figure, an ondine, melusine, mermaid or even a swan who lives in the sea or a magical lake. In comes the mortal and they fall in love.

This is always a difficult combination since the coming together of a mortal and something from another level of reality usually ends in some kind of disaster. Unfortunately the disaster will usually be caused by the human who tries to force the situation to fit his own rules and wants.

The story goes that the magical creature agrees to live on dry land with the mortal as long as certain conditions are kept. This condition centers around doing something very specific at a certain time, or to not to do a certain action at all. It is some form of respect that must be shown regarding the mysteries of the other realm.

The mortal, driven by curiosity and lack of respect will break this condition and the mermaid will disappear into the sea again or sometimes even drag him down with her, drowning him in her deadly embrace.

The symbolism and meaning of
mythology of Pisces:

Pisces it the last sign of the Zodiac and is therefore the completion of a cycle. Pisces can be seen as a representation of all the previous signs lessons, problems, needs, longings and knowledge. He senses a divine source and the answers to it all behind it, but it is always just out of his reach.

Pisces, represented by two fishes swimming in opposite directions, have to deal with the dilemma of the meeting of two very different dimensions. On the one side is an ordinary person and on the other side is a magical being that very occasionally appears above the surface to entrance the mortal with divine abilities.

This meeting can have several outcomes: some Pisceans will dive into an ocean of drugs, daydreaming or dementia never to reappear again. Others will seize a moment of divine inspiration and create something that equals genius.

Most Pisceans will deal with this by holding tightly to a rational attitude towards life, choosing to ignore the mystical and leading a sad one dimensional existence.

It is interesting to note that some Piscean individuals has a propensity towards self sacrifice. He will attach himself to a cause (or even a family life) he can devote himself to. This is a very strong inclination to offer himself up, give everything away and to disappear into some kind of cause.

The question remains whether he will become the mermaid or be drowned by the mermaid?
