How to be romantic

What is romance?

Will we know how to be romantic if we figure out what romance is?

After doing quiet a bit of research I came to the conclusion that romance is easy to describe, but rather difficult to define. Everyone has a different idea of what romance is, but all agree that romance is the expression of our feelings for someone. Everybody also agreed that a love-relationship without romance is a very, very sad place to be in, and should be avoided at all costs.

Romance is one of the most essential, make or break ingredients of a successful relationship. It is the expression of your love in tangible form. It inspires you and let you do things that you possibly couldn't have imagined to do otherwise.

We all need and want to feel accepted, appreciated, treasured and loved. The ability to make someone feel that they are the most important person in your world, is very powerful. Figure out how to fulfill that need for your partner and you are a magic-maker.

Always keep in mind that everyone is unique and will therefore have unique wants and needs. I will supply you with a few basic ways of how to be romantic that are universal and will work for (almost) every situation. You must, however, study your partner and figure out what will make your partner feel special and romanced.

How to be romantic basics:

Be old fashioned - Pick her up. Open doors. Pull out chairs. Be protective (with words and deeds) Take care of everything. Compliment her.

Be smooth - Your romantic efforts must look as if it is second nature and very natural to you. This is not the time to “um” and “ah” and fumble around. Be self-assured. Fake it - if you must!

Focus on the little things - Create a romantic moment with small little gifts, a few soft words at the right moment, a touch, a quick hug, that adoring look.

Create romantic moments every day - Sprinkle romance throughout your day with: “you look great”, “I love you”, a surprise love-note, a single flower, touching his cheek, sending a sms, just checking in to hear her voice, using nicknames.

Practice gratitude - Make your partner feel special by letting her know what you appreciate about her. Saying: “I am so glad you are in my life” or “I love the way you look at things” is very important. Say “thank you” and mean it.

Never underestimate the power of romance! - Think on it, plan for it, live it!
