Gemini mythology

The Gemini mythology relates to the story of the inseparable Gemini twins, Castor and Pollux who spends alternate days on Mount Olympus and then in Hades.

Gemini mythology
The Gemini twins, Castor and Pollux, known in Greek as the Dioscuri, were the suns of the God Zeus and a mortal, Tyndareus. How did this happen? As with most Greek myths this is a story with a lot of twists and turnings.
Let’s start with their origins:
Lena, the twins’ mother, was married to Tyndareus. Zeus, who was in love with her, disguised himself as a swan and seduced her on the same night she mated with her husband Tyndareus. Lena produced two eggs and from this appeared Castor, Polydeuces (or Pollux) and Helen (of Troy) and Clytemnestra.
Pollux, fathered by Zeus, was immortal and Castor, fathered by Tyndareus, was a mortal.
It is said that the two boys were very close from early on and inseparable. They lived an active and interesting life and even took part as Argonauts in Jason’s quest to retrieve the legendary Golden Fleece.
However in a fight with another set of twins, Castor was killed. Pollux was so heartbroken that he wanted to die in order to join his brother. He convinced Zeus to let him share his immortality with Castor so that they could be together again.
This agreement with Zeus resulted in the twins’ takings turns between the one twin living one day on Mount Olympus and one day in Hades. They were allowed to share some time together when the exchange between heaven and the underworld took place.
The symbolism and meaning of the Gemini mythology:
In understand the Gemini personality it is important to keep the duality of the twins in mind. One part is divine and spends time in heaven and the other part of the personality is mortal, vulnerable and is spending time in hell. Two opposites contained in one body.
To make this even more complicated, you need to realize that this takes place at the same time. While one is in heaven the other is in hell. This duality can cause a lot of confusion for a Gemini person. While his intuition is telling him one thing, his logic may be telling him another – and then there is the dilemma of figuring out which part to listen to.
At any time Gemini can be either (or both) intellectual and emotional, male and female, conscious and unconscious, human and divine, scientist and mystic, artist and intellectual, extrovert and introvert, happy and depressed. Can you see why this can be confusing and lead to inconsistent behavior?
The lesson Gemini needs to learn is to realize that he is not one or the other, but rather that he is all at any given time. He must learn to bridge the opposites inside of himself and accept both. Opposites need not be enemies, but can be part of the whole.
