Capricorn mythology

- Mythology of Capricorn -

From the Capricorn mythology we will learn about the role of the father figure and the importance of discipline and responsibility.

When looking at the mythology of Capricorn it is clear that the father figure takes center stage in shaping the Capricorn personality. We will also look at Bodhisattva to help us understand the link and need for responsibility and discipline.

Read a short version of this below:

Capricorn mythology

Capricorn can be attached to a variety of myths but the central theme that comes through time and again is the importance of the father figure. Most Goat persons are heavily influenced by a complicated relationship with their father.

The father can be too stern, aloof, weak, unstable, unavailable, absent, over idealized or just unattainable. This relationship will color the first thirty years of the Capricorn’s life since it will be a problem or challenge that needs to be overcome before an individual life can truly take off.

It is only in adulthood that Capricorn will learn that the qualities of a father; stability, security, strong will, protectiveness and control, lies not out there in someone or something else, but is rather something that must be developed from within.

Some Capricorns will try to reach this through hard work, accumulating wealth and prestige but will always feel as if something is missing from their life. It is only when those qualities are shaped from within that a sense of achievement will become real to them.

The Eastern philosophy of Bodhisattva will help us to understand a further aspect of the Capricorn personality. According to this philosophy it is believed that self realization and enlightenment will lead to a state of oneness with God.

When Bodhisattva reach this level he turned to look back and saw that most of humanity is still suffering and in a state of darkness. Instead of going into the light, he then chooses to go back to the world to help the rest of humanity to reach enlightenment.

This is an interesting description of his dedication and fulfillment of his destiny. You will also find that some Capricorns in real life will take a path of service when they have reached the top of their particular peaks.

In every Capricorn there is this instinctual need to stay in the mundaness of an ordinary and thankless life in order to change things for the better. Even if it is just a little bit at a time.

Unfortunately some Capricorns may take this too far and will neglect their personal life, family and self development in order to do the stuff that "must" be done to keep things running smoothly.
