Active date ideas

If you and that special someone you want to ask out, are into being energetic and love to be outdoors, an active date activity may just be the thing to start your romance on the right road.

To have a successful sporting date, make sure:

• - your date shares your passion for being on the go,
• - to be considerate of your date’s endurance levels,
• - this is a date, not a competition,
• - to focus on your companion, not the activity,
• - to have a sense of humor!

Suggestions for active date ideas:

Miniature Golf – make things more interesting by inventing your own rules and making a little wager: the winner gets a wish granted.

Go bike riding - spend a few hours in the fresh air exploring the suburbs, a bike trail, a park or the countryside. Be mindful of your date’s energy levels.

Play Paintball – this involves a lot of ducking, diving, running and loads of fun and gives you the opportunity to see how your date reacts when you are in trouble.

Go Dancing – this is a lovely way to get up close and personal while having fun. If you can’t dance, take lessens together (a good way of seeing more of each other)

Rent a Boat – it can be very romantic to be in a small rowboat with that someone special, floating along and watching the sunset.

Exercise Together – this is an excellent way to bond and develop a routine of doing something together and keeping in shape.

Indoor Rock Climbing – make sure that you are safely roped in, help and trust each other and have a lot of fun.

Hiking – put on your hiking shoes and walk a nature trail, find all the fountains in your area or go exploring in the countryside. Pack a backpack with a picnic lunch and lots to drink.

Scavenger Hunt – draw a map or make a list of things to find. Have fun searching for clues and end with a special price or a romantic dinner for two. Your imagination is your only limit.

Amusement Park – enjoy hours of fun trying all the exciting rides and make sure to hold on tightly to each on the roller coaster.

Play Hide and Seek – enjoy this fun children’s game in a grown up version. Every time your find each other steal a kiss.

Go to the Park – this is a place to do a variety of activities: play kickball, volleyball, have a picnic, climb trees, try the swings and slides, take a long walk, or watch the clouds pass by …

Hot Air Balloon Ride – an incredibly romantic way to watch a sunset, floating along, sipping on champagne, enjoying magnificent views.

Enjoy the Snow – go skiing, snow mobiling, snow boarding or snow sledding. Build a snowman or make snow angles. Don’t forget the hot cocoa afterwards!

Play darts/pool – visit your local pub and enjoy a friendly game of darts or pool with your date or a group of friends.

Roller Skating – go to a park or skating rink and have fun. If you haven’t done this before, find out how to stop before you start!

Horseback Riding – spend a few hours in nature enjoying the scenery, each other’s company and have a picnic along the way.


Jet Ski – for an exciting afternoon, rent a pair of jet ski’s, strap on lifejackets and go play in the water!

Fly a Kite – make your own or buy a kite, pack a picnic lunch and sparkling wine, go to your local park and wait for a breeze …

Go Ice Skating – dress warmly, go to your local frozen pond or ice rink and have a lot of fun. Follow with steaming cups of hot chocolate.
